Stämm

Stämm is a biotechnology company dedicated to making biomanufacturing easy, scalable and repeatable, beginning with the production of biologics and cell therapies.
In 2020, the total volume of anthropogenic mass matched the total amount of biomass globally, which means it matched everything alive on the planet. We can only expect that this number keeps increasing since it’s key to solve humanity’s systemic challenges.
But we have to make sure that conquering the great challenges of humanity doesn’t extinguish the planet’s capacity to sustain life.
The current way of biomanufacturing has provided humanity with innumerable solutions. Bioprocessing is the most efficient way to align human advancement with a thriving nature. In order to prevent nature to perish, we aim to put it at the center of all human activities by incorporating its knowledge system within the process of achieving humanity’s prosperity.
Founded in 2016, Stämm is applying nature’s use of laminar flow to down-size a whole biotech facility into an all-in-one, plug & play desktop unit with unidirectional flow and continuous production to decentralize bioprocesses and democratize access to biotechnology products, thus freeing our partners to focus on the disruptive discoveries that make an impact in people’s life, fueled by nature.

Stämm Grown

Stämm Grown facilitates the implementation of microbial growth systems around the world. Our groundbreaking approach renews the possibilities of low scale production systems as a viable solution to supply local markets and unleashes exponential rates of innovation in Biotech. We have merged the technological capabilities of microfluidics, electropermeabilization and soft robotics towards a fully automatized continuous system.

Stämm Wired

Stämm Wired provides full traceability of every node in the Stämm Grown network, gathering performance data in real time. We are currently designing and developing both specific and unspecific sensors to track biological, physical and chemical variations within our bioprocessors. We will develop a unified biotech production language that will enable the cumulative knowledge in Biotech implementation.

Stämm Coded

Stämm Coded enhances our understanding about microorganisms, transforming our data base into knowledge, allowing us to predict the behaviour of specific strains within our bioprocessors. We strongly believe that this is the path towards a zero marginal cost of innovation model in Biotech Industry.

Draper Associates Indie Bio GridX Draper Cygnus Singularity University

In 2016 Stämm was granted a scholarship to attend the Global Solution Program (GSP) at Singularity University, inside NASA’s Ames Research Center, in Mountain View, California. In 2017, the company received an early investment from the argentinian company builder GridX. This fund was supported by the Argentine Chamber of Biotechnology. In 2018, Stämm was selected to be part of Indiebio´s acceleration program (IB7) that included funding, access to space lab and mentorship. Right after the 4-month program, the company officially started to raise funds. By early 2019, Stämm secured a $2.1MM seed round led by Tim Draper.
